About Us
Cork Auction Rooms — Antiques and Fine Art Auctioneers
Based in Ballycurreen, Co. Cork, we are a long-established auction house specialising in fine antiques, art, Irish silver, militaria, coins, banknotes, books, and ephemera. We hold monthly general auctions and serve both private and professional clients across County Cork and beyond.
What We Do
We conduct monthly general auctions, typically on Sundays starting at 12 noon, offering a broad mix of antique and modern furniture, silver, pottery and china, antiquarian books, clocks and watches, medals and militaria, paintings, and collectables. Each auction features over 300 quality lots, with new items added weekly in the run-up to sale day.
We also undertake house clearances and handle specialist items, drawing on instructions from private individuals, solicitors, and professional clients.
Cork Auction Rooms has built a reputation as a trusted destination for fine antiques and art across County Cork and beyond. Operating from a Ballycurreen base, the auction house handles a diverse range of items spanning centuries of craftsmanship. From Victorian furniture and Irish silver to militaria, coins, and rare books, the saleroom offers collectors and dealers alike a consistent source of quality material. Monthly general auctions, typically held on Sundays, draw a dedicated following of bidders who appreciate the breadth of lots on offer. The team brings decades of combined experience in valuation and cataloguing, ensuring each sale is presented with accuracy and care.
The auction calendar at Cork Auction Rooms follows a steady rhythm, with regular monthly sales that feature a carefully curated mix of antique furniture, fine art, silverware, and collectors' items. Each catalogue is assembled with an eye for variety, offering everything from Victorian mahogany pieces and grandfather clocks to modern paintings and decorative ceramics. Viewing days are scheduled ahead of each auction, giving prospective buyers the chance to inspect lots in person. The auction house also accepts absentee bids, allowing clients unable to attend on sale day to participate remotely. This approachable structure has made the rooms a welcoming venue for both seasoned collectors and first-time bidders.
Beyond the monthly general sales, Cork Auction Rooms handles specialised consignments that reflect the depth of Ireland's decorative and fine art heritage. Irish silver, in particular, features prominently, with examples ranging from Georgian serving pieces to Victorian presentation items. Militaria and medal collections regularly appear, drawing interest from historians and military enthusiasts. The auctioneers also maintain a strong focus on antiquarian books and ephemera, recognising the value of printed material as both historical record and collectible asset. Each lot is described in detail, with condition reports available upon request, supporting informed bidding and transparent transactions throughout the sale process.
For those considering selling, Cork Auction Rooms offers a straightforward consignment process built on honest appraisal and practical advice. The team provides valuation services for individual items, collections, and entire estates, helping clients understand the market potential of their possessions. Items are photographed, catalogued, and marketed through the auction house's established channels, reaching a network of active buyers. The saleroom's location in Cork provides convenient access for vendors across Munster and the south of Ireland. Whether clearing a family home or downsizing a long-held collection, sellers benefit from the auctioneers' knowledge of period furniture, fine art, silver, and decorative objects.
